Stupid Taxi Drivers..

Taxi drivers in Malaysia get a lot of bad press for not using their meters, not taking people if the distance is too short or too long, charging more if it’s raining, charging more if there’s a traffic jam or just plain refusing to take people because they don’t feel like going where you want to go.

For me if a taxi is for hire, you should get in – state your destination and off you go.

Anyway have you noticed the worst drivers on the road are also taxi drivers? Cut queues, change lanes recklessly? No signal, no indication of intent? They drive too fast or too slow…of course there are some good taxi drivers, but on the whole?

I managed to avoid them mostly with their crazy antics, but this time I didn’t, I was coming out of 1-Utama carpark (new wing) onto the 3-lane section that goes back to the main road.

My lane was empty, let’s call it lane one – I double checked, no cars coming so of course I pulled out onto the lane..

Well I managed to pull out half way..when a taxi in the second lane decided to cut into the first lane without any signal, very suddenly..so of course I was half way out there’s nothing I can do, he just ploughed straight into the front corner of my car and didn’t stop, so he dragged the entire side of his car along my bumper..

He managed to completely crush the side light (thankfully not the headlight) and due to good design, the bumper absorbed the impact and the bracket popped (so no real dent) there’s one very deep scratch though.

Sidelight Death

Care is in the workshop now, it was time for service anyway…service is done but it’ll take another 2 days to repair and respray the bumper *sigh*.

Plus about 3-400 bucks to fix (I’ll fix the part that got busted at Plaza Damas too) + normal service.

Shit happens! Just beware of the taxis.

Intimate Acoustic Session with Hannah Tan at Somo, Mon’t Kiara

I joined Hannah Tan and many other familiar faces over at Somo last week to check out her live acoustic session, just her and a keyboard! No dancers, no fancy production, no backup, no live musicians.

It was a little quiet at first but got busier as the night went on, Hannah arrived and settled down to start her performance.

The banner you see on the left..yes that picture was taken by me!

The audience were a little shy at first, but she soon got them warmed up.

Year of Clashing

It seems like this year is going to be the year of clashes…Things just keep happening on the same day, or the same weekend.

Starting with this week and a company dinner or Hannah Tan’s gig at Somo on Thursday night.

Shortly followed by a Sailing Trip (7-9th), Tiesto (9 & 10th) and World Lupus Day (10th)…all on the same weekend.

Then Kite Runner movie and Sean Kingston at Zouk on the same night.

Before that MDG visit to the house clashed with something else..

The trip to Sabah clashed with the Nuffnang Pajama Party.

*sigh*

It could be looked on as a good thing I guess, at least I have plenty of things to do…just why do they all have to happen on the same days/weekends – then the rest of the time nothing! Oh well, I guess it’s a good sign blogs are getting more important – we are getting invited to more and more serious events, locations and trips.

Power of blogs eh?

How do you decide which to do when you have a clash in your schedule? Does work come first? Or does the one that would benefit you most come first? Or the one that you would enjoy most?

Would you go on a sailing trip or go for 2 days rave with Tiesto? Or would you forego both to help out a charity endeavour you are involved with?

Decisions decisions…so far I’m swayed to Tiesto and rush back to KL for the charity thing then back to PD for the second night of Tiesto!
