Couldn’t stand the K750i any more, after replacing the screen once, it’s starting to fail again.
Plus the inconsistent USB connection to the PC for syncing, plus the fact it just resets sometimes, sometimes turns itself off, sometimes doesn’t ring when people call..
I liked the look of the E61, but not enough to buy it, it was kind of ugly, and lacked a simple camera for quick blog shots like funny things seen when walking around without a camera.
The Nokia brought out the E61i, it looks sexy, full metal, with a 2 megapixel camera so I bit the bullet and got myself one, after being a long time Sony Ericsson advocate…I have to say the software and features from the E61i are much better than what SE provides. The P990 is so much more expensive, and so much worse.
I’ve crossed back over to my roots, back to Nokia!
It’s a sexy gorgeous phone and surfing with Wifi on your phone with a massive 16.7 million colour screen is sweet indeed. I’ve been wanting a PDA kinda smart phone thingy for a while, but I always wanted something more phone and less PDA, this seems the ideal balance.
If only it had a slightly better camera and GPS it’d be perfect! It has GPS capability with a bluetooth GPS module, so that’s pretty cool as you just have to have the Nokia GPS unit or a Garmin unit within Bluetooth range and it’ll work just fine.
The interface is nice and easy to use, Symbian isn’t the most responsive OS ever but it’s fast enough.
Don’t worry more Kharu coming soon 🙂
cool! how much?
Ah… Symbian OS is damn slow!
I have wanted to put a symbian program that manages your calls. you can have a blacklist, grey list and white list etc. But i need to know it works
What programs have you tried.
This is a gorgeous phone. However, I’m keeping my eyes on the just released SE T650.
this phone looks kinda cool..but i really like the samsung pda fone but the camera kinda crap..
yes kharu faster come…waiting wif impatience
Looks awesome .. hows the browsing capability on the symbian os ? Still deciding what to replace my treo650 with
spiller: I got it for RM1820 with leather pouch and standard 256MB MicroSD card. Original set, AP is around RM1700.
Maria: Yah compared to normal phone a bit slow, but still acceptable IMHO.
Jaz: I haven’t installed anything yet, not really used to Symbian OS. It’s my first ‘smartphone’. I just installed Worldmate and Gmail so far.
gazard: It is lovely I agree!
lotsofcravings: The new Samsung is very cool, can’t say the camera is good on this phone, but ok la for the odd blog picture.
changeiam: I really love the Browser, a lot of people say it’s the best smartphone browser and I have to agree.
iPmart-forum makes me love Symbian applications more and more. Makes J2ME seem so limited.
Albert Ng: Yah I have to admit J2ME seems so lame after moving to Symbian, interesting forum will check it out.
Good purchase! I also just bought one myself.
Just wondering, my E61i’s top-right side of the back cover (volume keys side) is a little bit creaky/loose. Do you have the same issue?
Thanks.
Leonz: Good choice! I hadn’t noticed that. But there is a little bit of play near the volume keys, unlike the other side. I guess it must be due to the design of the rear sliding case and the way it includes the hole for the buttons.
I had purchesed the new nokia E61i in september 07.i love this mobile very much.this is a great device for web browsing, email, music and also very good in recording videos.one more thing…i thinks that this is first device that playes avi videos in full screen and much clear than other mobile(with divx player).i just love to watch videos on my e61i.
I didn’t noticed that you are one of the Nokia E61i user. I am a Nokia E61i user too. Bought it on May 2007 too.
Mandeep: I agree, it’s an excellent phone. I’ve also tried n95 but I still prefer my E61i!
Wing Loon: Yeah early user, was waiting for update to E61 for quite some time. The new look and basic camera swung it for me.
