Four middle-aged men (Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H. Macy) decide to take a road trip from Cincinnati to the Pacific in order to get away from their lives which are leading them nowhere. Taking their motorcycles, these “Wild Hogs” tear up the road and eventually stop in New Mexico for a drink not knowing that the bar belongs to the “Del Fuegos”, a mean biker gang.
Quite a few people had been mentioning this movie, so I thought it might be worth a watch. I took the opportunity of the Spiderman 3 rush to watch the movie in relative peice.
Everyone else was clammering for spidey tickets, I’ll watch that later in the week I think.
Wild Hogs is a fairly simple brainless movie about 4 guys having mid-life crisis and wanting to get away from their tepid suburban lives.
The humour is fairly slapstick and not much is required of the actors, but they do a good enough job with William H Macy predictably playing a geek, Ray Liotta as the bad guy and Marisa Tomei looking suitably hawt!
The movie was fun with some good cinematography, there could have been a bit more variety in the scenery, but even so some of the it was simply breathtaking.
There was a bit of a cheesy undertone towards the end, but all in all it’s a fun movie, a good popcorn muncher, don’t expect anything deep or moving.
Do expect toilet humour, slapstick and good chemistry between the 4 leads. No one really stole the screen.
I’d give it a healthy 6/10, but perhaps wait for the DVD.
I gave it the same rating too, wait til you watch Spiderman 3, then you’ll appreciate this movie a little more. LOL.
I thought Wild Hogs was pretty bad. And what the guy above me said, Spider Man 3 is a steaming pile of wank.
We’ve already had Wild Hogs go through the Cinemas very fast a month or so ago. I’m sure it’s due on DVD in a month or two more.
Gallivanter: Yeah I haven’t caught spidey yet, but I can’t say I’ve heard good things about it.
nyg: On the scale of things it’s certainly not a great movie, but I thought it’s pretty good for what it’s supposed to be (a brainless slapstick).
Dabido (Teflon): Check it out if you like stewpid movies 😉
