Shutter Asia Forum – Keeping Photography ALIVE!

Shutter Asia (SA) was set-up in March 2007 by a group of like-minded friends who were interested in photography and travel, the idea was for the site to become a friendly community for photography enthusiasts and travelers around Asia and other areas, for asking questions, sharing photographs & techniques, discussing travel and locations and learning in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Shutter Asia

It’s officially launching today, so do join up and contribute.

https://www.shutterasia.com

There is a lot of information on the Internet regarding photography and especially equipment and technical terms (Aperture, Shutter, White Balance etc) but it can be very daunting for a new user or even confusing for an intermediate user. We wanted to get away from the bad attitudes, gear talk, cliques and flaming of other sites and communities and create a relaxed, but knowledgeable user base that will eventually fill our forum wonderful information and images.

We also have a Flickr group you can join here:

Colors of the Street: Fresh Fruits on the Go

And an active Shoutbox for real-time chat:

If you have any feedback, let us know. Do introduce yourself and start posting pictures!

Hey mate, the other day you advised me to go for the Nikon D80 so I did some research on it and asked around a bit and I’ve gotten a lot of feedback saying the D80 is actually a better choice. How true is that?

vicky: Hope to see you there!

nyg: You aren’t making any sense friend, D80 better than D80?! Do you mean 400D or 30D or D200 or something else?

Oops, typo. My bad. I meant I’ve gotten feedback that the D70 is actually better.

nyg: They are very different cams, one has latest technology, one is quite a bit older but more solid. If you do a lot of low light photography the D80 noise handling is much better, plus it’s 10megapixels and has updated software. The D70s is a great camera though and is adequate at 6mp, but the noise isn’t great. If you are on a budget though a second hand D50 or D70s is a great choice.

Ah, I see. I’ve got a budget at around 4000-4500 Ringgus, I guess I’ll just go get the D80 then.

    Thanks for the info, ST.
