So this weeked I was one of the Heng Tai for one of my best friends, Terence, who I’ve known in person for about 7 years now.
It was a really joyous occasion, to be part of the gang, it’s actually the first wedding of a real friend I’ve been to, not just another acquaintance, someone I care about.
It’s a very different feeling.
We set off to Ipoh in the afternoon, encountering one big momma of a storm on the way, it was pretty scary.
(You should check out the large version here).
It really rained heavily.
When we got there we were ravenous, but as it was about 4pm there wasn’t much open, so we quickly grabbed some food at a coffee shop near the hotel.
Ipoh is a beautiful place, with amazing varied scenery. I guess most of it due to the abundance of Limestone.
Then back to the hotel for a rest and off to Ipoh Country Club for the first dinner.
The glorious union of Terence Goh Yi Hou and Tan Saint Wui.
Then in the normal Chinese Wedding Dinner fashion came food….food and more food.
Lots of drinks and lots of Yam Seng!
As we drank more things started to get a little Brokeback.
Terence managed to spray the sparkling whatever all over the ceiling, it was dripping all over everyone.
(See the large version for detailed spray).
So happy.
Have to say the best dish by far was the Chicken…well it is Ipoh after all, it was in some kind of rice wine sauce, yummy!
The cutest little girl and Saint’s sister.
This was the full menu, please note NO SHARKFIN!
Happy family.
As we drank more and more…more and more jugs came, more and more jugs finished, things got more and more Brokeback..
After the Otard came out, things started looking pretty much like this.
And there was still more jugs to finish.
The girls were very happy too!
After that….we went for supper and more beer!
This time it was frozen beer, the glass was frozen and the beer partially frozen, so it was like a beer slurpy, rather nice…we finished about 6 bottles.
We also had Whitings.
We also had a bunch of other stuff…which by that point I can’t really remember. Stuffed chicken and Mantis Prawns I think.
After that….we went for supper round 2, with more beer, famous Ipoh chicken, beansprouts and horfun.
Then we tar paued some beer and went back to the hotel to finish the Otard…and the beer…and some guiness..
And well, let’s say the rest is censored. It was definately Brokeback – Part Two 18SX version.
Day 2 coming soon..

Hi ST. You’ve probably been to loads of Chinese weddings/dinners. Just curious to know, what was your impression when you attended your 1st one?
spiller: Everyone was drunk pretty much, no comments about the dress though 😉
Laksa: Yeah it was really great, you can check out part 2 now 😀
saikua: Thanks bro….mostly obscene ones on the cass cam, not mine, waiting to get them from her.
cass: Yah babe, we had 6, we had 3 sets of frozen beer, each one consisted of 2 bottles and cost 23 bucks. I think anyway…I don’t remember THAT clearly.
in: Long time ago hard to remember. But something along the lines of, Why so much food? How many courses are there?! What the hell is Yamseng? Why do we have to give them money?
