I do enjoy going to Ikea for a little outing, have some food and a wonder around the vast store, perhaps purchasing a candle holder or something on the way..
I do like their furniture but I find it rather over-priced and tend to go there to get ideas rather than buy stuff, then I’ll go and find what I like at a local shop.
I really love the food though, especially the great Swedish Meatballs!
I’ve never been anywhere where they’ve managed to shove quite so many chips in a little pot either..
Lovely lovely meaty balls of loveliness!
The gravy is just perfect, and the slightly hard boiled potatoes (I usually mash them up with the gravy and a little salt and pepper, heavenly!)
The Ikea Gravad Lax is very good aswell with the nice tangy sauce, my Mom said she made it once but it took about 3 days, so I don’t think I’ll bother..
If you’re interested though, there’s a BBC Recipe for Gravad Lax here.
Of course the plates get licked clean 🙂
After that I headed into the store to educate the next generation of children via the medium of soft-toy art.
I call this beautiful peice:
“Missionary with rim”
Followed by my special:
“Teddy bang”
I’m good eh?
phuiyo …. mahai i dem miss the meatballs
My wife loves the food there and last week we went there 3 times just for the food but we ended up buying something else too.
About the prices, its not that bad and we found them quite resonable considering the quality; In fact they were the cheapest around.
whose toes were below the plates? 😛
Kewl
u sicko, those are kids at the teddy section. sicko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That last photo… those lucky-ass bears.
Bears caught in the octopus position! lol
I know this someone that can make the original kottbullar (swedish meatball) and it is nothing like what Ikea is serving. Apparently he says the meatball needs half portion of minced beef mixed together with half portion of minced pork, and added on with some mashed potatoes (can be replaced with oatmeal).
I love it everytime when he invites me over for the kottbullar. It is always being served with tad bit of lingonberry jam. Sometimes he would make some very traditional swedish mashed potatoes that goes splendid with it too.
Slurrp!
This post gets 10/10 from me because of the Teddies.
Thanks for making me ROFL today. =)
you sick ang moh
Adam: The price for smaller items is ok, but larger items I find rather expensive, especially soft furnishing. Like there is a sofa there I liked, it was RM5600 I got one outside, which is somewhat nicer and larger for RM1800.
spiller: Secret guest man..
Dana: That sounds heavenly!
i’ll never be able to look at a teddy bear the same way again 😛
You know, that display would be in the children’s section…
The children would be too innocent to notice anything wrong with the teddies..
Lungiman: Teddy’s get all the fun eh?
Laynie: Well it wasn’t it was near the restaurant 😉 Plus kids wouldn’t know what it was supposed to be, plus I put them back to normal after, plus kids have to learn about sex some day anyway right?
dude, try the one in KLCC food court. on the right as you walk in. taste similar. in my humble tastebuds opinion(imhto) if ikea’s is 10/10, then this would be 8/10.
*sees the teddy pics* you naughty boy hahaha.. giving free sex educations to kids… pity those teddies they just may get caught for ‘khalwat’ later hahahahaha
IKEA meatballs YUCK! Taste nothing like those Swedes make. If you are interested in making some meatballs yourself, have a look at my recipe page https://jayyummy.blogspot.com/
*gasp*
You naughty man!
(Them poor teddies! – such blatant misuse of cute soft toys!)
😛
Hahaha! I knew this blog belonged to a guy cos only guys would do what u did to teddies. Chanced upon your blog when I was trying to find out why the Ikea Cafe here in KL stopped serving Swedish meatballs. Any idea?
