Japanese Food in Bandar Menjalara! – Great Stuff

This is the place I love to go, forget Gunky Sushi and Sushi Krap, they are expensive, for small portions and mostly mediocre food.

The place has nice decor, with a little fountain thing by the door and bamboo hanging up around the place.

The staff are a little grumpy, but the service is good anyway, it’s a Chinese owned place.

Of course it all starts with a good dollop of Wasabi, some soya sauce and some nice green tea (hot or cold, your choice).

After that the ordering begins, of course Salmon Sashimi, one of my favourite things..See each slice here is the size of the whole portion at Gunky or Sushi Krap.

With some ‘normal’ sushi, Tuna Salad and Prawns.

And amazing handrolls, these are Salmon Skin, I also recommend spider (soft-shelled crab).

The filling goes all the way to the bottom, it’s not just perched on the top.

Proper Miso soup, not just MSG!

One of my other favourite things, soft-shelled crab!

And amazing fresh, crispy, HUGE Tempura Prawns.

Now that’s what I call a SATISFYING meal!

Had a couple of others things and the like Spider Temaki, and the bill came to around $65RM, pretty good if you ask me!

Would easily be 100+ at ‘other’ places..

*EDIT* Ok guys here a map to the place, any questions ask me please 😉

Hey man, next time you should try out simple food which is good and cheap like Modanyaki – Omelette or Scrambled, which ever you prefer. Last time i used to work in this Japanese restaurant and i learnt how to make it. It’s very nice and it’s cheap. Oh yeah, you can get those daishi-nomoto in stores, teriyaki sauces are good in lots of dishes.

LOL @ map. Truly exceptional rendition. If I get lost whilst hopelessly dependant on that map, I will need to call you. Do get a temp pre-paid SIM to facilitate that order.

Hardcore bloggers carry camera everywhere, Doom…

It’s either that or you are really ignorant of what is the definition of a “blogger”.

    Cheers.

    mediocrity sure loves company…

  26. Oysterman November 19, 2005 at 4:59 am #

RM 65 not that cheap at first.

But after looking at the huge portions of the fresh salmon, and the fact they’re GOOD portions, it definitely seems worth it.

Yum yum, blast you… why do you have to tempt me like this!?

Wasabi portions are too small though. I tend to take a lot of it.

    Where’s the pickled ginger?!

  27. Chow FC November 19, 2005 at 9:44 am #

Whoa! My friend lives nearby and if I am nost mistaken, its near 7-11

  29. julthefool November 26, 2005 at 9:38 am #

Hi thanks for the info. We went there tonight and had a nice meal. Cost: RM125 for four: sushi set, sashimi set, tempura, miso, 2 types of udon, some fried fish, some fried ball things, something else, and 2 bottles of beer.
Oh ya and while we’re discussing Japanese food, I totally agree about ‘Gunky Sushi’. I think that the sashimi I had there once was defrosted… When I think about it, let’s be clear for those who can’t work it out. I mean ‘Genki Sushi’, and the one I went to was in MegaMall. It was crap.
