Woman’s head found in bag by Orchard Road MRT Station

Honestly I haven’t seen anyone right about this, and I found it pretty scary, so I thought I’d give it a mention.

SINGAPORE : A woman’s severed head and limbs were found next to Orchard MRT Station on Friday.

Police are investigating if a woman’s torso found in a black canvas bag along a path near MacRitchie Reservoir is linked to the body parts found earlier at Orchard Road.

The police had responded to a call about an unattended bag at MacRitichie Reservoir earlier in the evening.

The body parts were stashed in a blue sports bag on the grounds near Orchard MRT Station.

The woman’s head was wrapped in a red plastic bag, the arms and legs in two black trash bags.

A cleaner found the unattended sports bag behind the MRT station, between the mosaic wall and the park.

ASP Siow Cheng Cheng, Police Spokesman, said: “Police immediately cordoned off the surrounding area and conducted a search. We are presently working towards establishing the identity of the victim. The search for further remains and evidence is on-going.”

The gruesome find drew a large crowd of on-lookers.

This is the second body parts case in less than three months – a grim reminder of the June 16 case where the body parts of Chinese national Liu Hong Mei were found in the Kallang River

Pretty crazy eh? And the second within 3 months?

There’s some crazy dudes roaming around Singapore, that’s for shizzle.

Someone on Battle.net mentioned this to me actually, he said he had nightmares about it..

Imagine getting on the LRT or the MRT, and there’s a copy of todays newspaper on the seat next to you..So you pick it up to take a read, and there’s a severed head underneath staring up at you. That’s enough to freak anyone out!

Site Downtime

Apologies for the site downtime, I forgot to change the IP addresses for the master NS records as I’m using Custom name server…so the site was down until I remembered, then the DNS propogated. Streamyx seemed to be last actually, as my site was up some time Sunday for most people, as I got new comments.

Cheers!

dude! i wake up this morning, about to go for breakfast, and i come across your entry. Now I’ve lost my appetite. 🙁

Yup, not too pleasant to see a decapitated head, that’s for sure. It’s kinda sad to see this in today’s society, but the truth is that it is happening way too often, in all parts of the world.

  14. munki September 12, 2005 at 2:41 am #

why use the poor deceased as an ammunition for such myopic comments?

  15. Melissa September 12, 2005 at 3:16 am #

Can’t agree more with Munki. Ignorant and childish behaviour.

  16. Beerbabe September 12, 2005 at 3:34 am #

I seriously think the Singapore bashing has to stop somewhere, ST. how did a murder committed by a foreign domestic help become the fault of a country? sheesh

  17. ShaolinTiger September 12, 2005 at 3:43 am #

It is sad to see. You think we woul dbe more civilised by now.
The funny thing is, statistics are showing that this sort of thing is actually on a decrease. Just we hear more about it becuase of the news, and the need to sensationalise to attract viewers/readers etc.
There was a time that the news wouldn’t have reportd it, as it was too grusome, but with todays media, if it bleeds, it leads.

  23. Dabido (Teflon) September 12, 2005 at 4:54 am #

Sorry, excuse my ignorance, what case are you two talking about?

    *ignorant bodoh Dabido!*

our police managed to catch the killer after 12 hours. beat that!

  27. kimberlycun September 12, 2005 at 6:00 am #

mona fandey was a witch that chopped up some politician whom she rendered service to. after her case, there was a surge of similar cases in msia. her case’s damn spooky i heard from my journalist friends that when they followed the cops to look for his body parts (according to her directions), they were going round and round in circles, lost, eventhough the cops were very familiar with the area.

  34. Zena September 12, 2005 at 8:06 am #

hmmm. yeah. chopped up bodies. i think few years back there was a case where the guy got chopped up and made into curry. damn scary and macabre man. and s’pore has a tv programme called true files, i think its called, of all the murder/robbery/rapes/allsortoflawbreakingstuff that took place in s’pore and one called missing, about, well… missing people 🙂

so, no matter where you are… lock up the doors please!

  38. Jolene September 13, 2005 at 1:51 am #

Not really. We are not unreasonable or self-righteous. Crimes *DO* happen in Singapore and we accept that.

  39. pj September 13, 2005 at 4:52 am #

Yeah and the murderer is a foreigner, as is the murdered

  40. Beerbabe September 13, 2005 at 8:38 am #

actually according to my policeman friends stuff like these have been happening for years but they did not gain media attention like how they do today cos the media is more savvy now (oh fark i feel like i’m lying through my teeth here!)… ok, more like the info is allowed to be provided to the press these days.

hey, you didn’t think i was gonna complement the local press, did you?

  41. Beerbabe September 13, 2005 at 8:40 am #

oops i meant compliment, not complement. i really think my spelling is going out of whack!

  42. ShaolinTiger September 13, 2005 at 11:42 pm #

Actually I’d say it’s due to a number of facts..

    1) Serious crimes like this and murders are a lot less common than they used to be, years ago murders etc weren’t even reported as they were so frequent.

    2) Papers go for cheap news nowdays, shock stories, anything gruesome/sexual sells papers

    3) The access is there, things like this would have been covered up in the past and never mentioned again, media has more power (access) nowdays.

  43. Beerbabe September 14, 2005 at 1:52 am #

the ironic thing about our papers is although they belong to the same company they view one another as competitors. it’s damn weird. maybe cos we have only one other paper publishing outfit and even that – SPH has a share in it.

so this “perceived” competition – fueled by the egos of the journos who view themselves as demi gods from time to time – has made them more hungry for news, more searching, more resourceful. so thats how we get all these stuff on the papers.

I also think the murders are a case of monkey see monkey do. one murderer starts choping, others learn and follow suit.

well, for once, i have good reason to be reading the newspapers on a daily basis.

now now, don’t tell anyone i don’t read the local papers ok! it’s just that my bandwidth for kindergarten reporting is low. really low. besides the lifestyle, digital life and money pages I hardly read anything else. who needs to read about our birth rates going down or how some blogger post her half nude pics on a blog?

Some time back my friends and I had a little discussion on how the main paper here has changed, and how they have become more tabloid-like in their news style. this is especially evident in the weekend papers, where you can’t tell the difference between the new paper and the sunday times.

you can call us old fashioned, but we kind of miss the old sunday times where news was decent. these days it’s just sex sex sex…. sigh….

Well my father met Mona Fandey once or twice before as we lived in Raub (where the chopped politician came from). They told me that she seemed ordinary.

If I am not mistaken (this happened many years ago) her sister visited my father’s clinic even after the trial.
