So yesterday along with 8000 other ravers we all headed up to Genting for Zoukfest, the event of the year with people coming from Indonesia, Thailand and the Phillipines to join our party.
We all headed up in separate cars after lunch, God was first to reach I think along with his friends. Got there around 3.30-ish..
It was a nice day but freaking hot, seems like the haze has blown away and the blue skies are back, we passed batu caves on the way there.
The traffic was quite heavy with all the normal genting visitors plus the hordes of eager ravers in their Ah Beng wira’s.
We parked deep in the bowels of first world hotel, something like 8 floors down. KY the original parking lucker found parking just as they drove in, as always.
When we arrived the whole place was packed with funky dressed ravers, you know camoflague trousers, some punks, people with so many earrings you can’t feasibly count them, normal stuff (for ravers) and every Ah Beng hairstyle under the sun, saw some awesome mohicans.
There was loads suckers that hadn’t got tickers earlier so where all jammed up towards the ticket office trying to get the last few before they sold out.
We went for some food whilst those in our group who didn’t have tickets tried to get some.
I didn’t take any pictures while we were eating, because well I was busy eating.
After that we hung around, found out who was where and what was going on, we decided to head on inside around 9pm as if we went in later, the queues to get in would be hideous.
It was fairly busy when we went in, but not overly packed, it was misty, windy, damp and cold though!
Of course when it’s cold, the girls always get colder first, so I invite them to keep warm by getting it on with each other, yeah!
They had some stupid rule that you couldn’t take cameras in, so they wanted to confiscate mine, I was like no fucking way man, then he was like ok, take 1 battery out, I said I can’t…they are rechargeable, he was like hmmkay, don’t take any pictures then, I was like yeah for sure…bwahahah
When we arrived it was already pretty full, probably more than half already, but it was still nice, plenty of space to move and dance and sit if you felt like it.
It was pretty hard to take pictures because of the mist, if you took a picture with flash, you just got a white haze, and nothing much else.
This is an edited picture of a part of our group (impossible to get everyone together, I think with friends and friends friends, there was around 100+).
There was two main areas, house/trance and RnB, the RnB area was a bit cheesy for me, but it got good just as we left 🙁 (Chemical brothers, Prodigy, Beastie Boys etc.)
I stayed in the house area most of the night.
Kim alternated between the 2 areas with FireAngel, man FA dances like triple the speed of anyone else, when she dances everyone just stops and looks at her like WTF?!?
It was also hard to take clear pics with no flash and longer exposure because of the ridiculously powderful speaker systems which vibrated your whole body, including your eye balls.
So most of the pics either came out a) With fog or b) Not clear due to the vibration
The above is no flash, so a bit blurry, the below is with flash, so a bit misty.
This was the view from the floor when chilling, happy ravers everywhere.
God was looking cool as always
And the Faggot, well looking like a complete faggot
The live singer during one of the later sets was awesome, I think she said her name was Jody, most people didn’t even realise she was live she was so good, I just happen to be tall enough to have noticed her 🙂
We headed out about 2.30 I think as a few people weren’t feeling well (probably a combination of the cold and wet air and the overpowering bass from the huge walls of speakers), it was totally packed by then with people still flooding in. We hung out outside starbucks for an hour or so and left about 3.30.
Took us about 30 mins just to get out of the carpark because of was full of fog, visibility was about 2 metres.
Then the traffic outside was hell, so took about 45 minutes to get off the top of Genting, then down the hill with the horrible visibility. Eventually got home safely around 5am and passed out.
It was rocking, haven’t been to a rave for a long time. The main thing about Genting is you don’t have to worry about overheating..
And they save money as they don’t have to buy smoke machines, you can see the lasers in the mist.
The moral of the story is, if you want to go somewhere, buy tickets before hand…don’t ummm, hmmm, arrr, dunno. Have some balls, make up your mind and buy tickets. On the night there were touts outside selling tickets for 150 a pop, makes me wish I’d brought another 10 to sell. 100+ profit per ticket, sweet 1k for 10 minutes work.
Have to go to a wedding dinner now anyway so I’ll sign off, hope everyone got home safely.
Peace.
